4Help – Information Technology Support Student Wage

4Help is seeking motivated students that want to help others, build a skillset in problem solving and customer service, and improve their technical knowledge. We offer a range of experiences, from solving IT support issues to being the first people new students meet to learn about Information Technology at Virginia Tech. Over the summer and during the school year, we will provide extensive training to hone your technical skills to help you succeed in both your job and build skills for your future career. This job will provide career-building experience, and help create VT-Shaped Students, who will inspire, innovate, and invent the future. Our Student Wage Program not only helps us achieve our mission, but also provides students with the opportunity for hands-on Information Technology experience designed to produce well-rounded students.


  • Must be a current Virginia Tech Student (Freshman/Sophomores welcome)
  • Must communicate well in-person, over the phone, and via email
  • Must have a desire to help others
  • Problem-solving and research skills desired
  • Experience using Apple or Windows operating systems
  • Experience using Virginia Tech services (HokieSpa, Canvas etc.)


A position with 4Help allows you to master more than just academics:

  • Starting at $11/hr over the summer and during the school year with opportunities for performance-based raises

4Help Information Technology Support is Virginia Tech’s primary point of contact for Information Technology assistance.  The mission of 4Help is to enhance the university's missions of teaching, learning, research, and outreach by providing centralized IT support services to Virginia Tech affiliates through:

  • Constituent support for use of Virginia Tech Division of IT Services and Applications
  • Consultations on questions about computing devices
  • Advocacy for our constituents and departmental IT support personnel
  • Extensive online documentation provided in the Knowledge Base and Service Catalog at http://4help.vt.edu
  • Assessment and continuous improvement of User Engagement activities
