University-wide user groups
The Division of IT hosts and supports a number of networking groups and communities of practice that provide employees and students opportunities for conversation and collaboration on technology-related topics. These groups are generally open to all interested Virginia Tech faculty and staff members, regardless of experience level. Many are also open to students.
The Accessibility Network provides information and training to support a variety of activities including advancing web accessibility, incorporating universal design practices, utilizing assistive technologies, and choosing accessible learning materials.
The Virginia Tech Developer Community (DevCom) aims to share best practices, foster new technologies, and help its members grow in the process. DevCom is open to all interested university employees.
The Microsoft User Group provides a collaborative platform to discuss and share information on how to use new Microsoft product features, enable best practices, and avoid common pitfalls. Interested persons can contact Paige Ghra at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The UX (user experience) community brings together Virginia Tech's UX experts and enthusiasts alike with the goal to improve the university’s UX maturity and to help design and implement services that are usable, valuable, accessible, intuitive, engaging, and consistent.
