The Division of Information Technology at Virginia Tech serves the university community and the citizens of Virginia by administering information resources that enhance and enable teaching and learning, research, outreach, and collaboration. We work in partnership with communities and universities to advance networking and communications capabilities and to provide, secure and maintain systems and services that allow Virginia Tech to accomplish its mission.

IT Transformation at Virginia Tech

The IT Transformation is a program focused on strengthening IT across Virginia Tech. The program aims to increase alignment of core IT organizations, processes, and services; build a stronger culture of collaboration; foster innovation and efficiency across the university; enable comprehensive shared governance; reduce our risks related to cybersecurity; and improve career pathways and support for IT professionals to assist in the recruitment and retention of our valued employees. The IT Transformation seeks to foster innovation and efficiency across the university.

UDGC reporting structure
University Data Governance Council (UDGC)

To enhance our reporting and data analytics capabilities and to enable informed decision-making, Virginia Tech is actively evolving our ability to manage, maintain, and fully utilize institutional data. In furtherance of this objective, the University Data Governance Council (UDGC) was established in August of 2020.
