Virginia Tech has awarded a contract for a new business intelligence system (BIS) to MicroStrategy. The new system replaces aging software, and will expand the functionality of reporting and analytic tools to wider university communities. The new system will integrate university data sources, allowing more detailed queries and empowering users to explore their data through discovery and visualization tools. In providing this ability to access, merge, and analyze the large quantity of data generated and stored by the university, the system will enhance decision-making throughout the university.

The contract kicks off a multi-phase data analytics initiative that begins this spring. Enterprise Systems is leading the implementation.
