In September 2020, Virginia Tech acquired priority access licenses for the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS). The Division of Information of Technology administers these licenses, which provide designated bandwidth that faculty and students at Virginia Tech can use for research in areas such as smart cities, smart farming, cyber-physical systems, and more.

Virginia Business, a publication that covers economic news throughout the commonwealth, recently featured the CBRS licenses and how they will benefit Virginia Tech in this story — check it out!
