Lauren States is a member of the Board of Directors for Webster Financial Corporation and Clean Harbors. She serves as a Trustee for the International House, New York and as a Director for ScriptEd. She is also a member of the Dean's Executive Council and an Executive-in-Residence for the D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University.

Previously, she held numerous senior executive positions with IBM:

  • Vice President, Strategy and Transformation, IBM Software Group, responsible for the sales force strategy and go-to-market for IBM's multi-billion dollar software business.

  • Chief Technology Officer, IBM Corporate Strategy, leading the technical strategy for IBM's growth initiatives with a focus on cloud computing, software and systems technologies.

  • Vice President, Global Technical Sales, IBM Software Group, overseeing the design and execution of IBM’s global technical sales force.

  • As a senior executive on IBM’s Integration and Values Leadership Team, Ms. States led in the company-wide transformation — responsible for the reshaping of IBM’s skills development for IBM's enterprise-wide 38,000+ sales force.

Ms. States is a member of the Executive Leadership Council. She holds a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a Certificate in Business Excellence from Columbia University Business School Executive Education and completed a Fellowship with Harvard University's Advanced Leadership Initiative in 2015.

Ms. States was inducted into the Women in Technology International, Women in Science and Technology Hall of Fame in 2014. She received the Federal 100 Award in 2012 and was recognized at the Black Engineer of the Year Conference with the Pioneer Award in 2013. Ms. States was named one of the 40 Women Leading Tech around the World by Silicon Republic in 2016.
