Born and raised in Washington, D.C. Racheida is a Gates Millennium Scholar and an Engineering Education PhD student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in May 2013 with her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with minors in Mathematics and Physics. She received her Master of Engineering from the University of Virginia in Electrical Engineering in May 2015 where she was named a GEM University Fellow. Racheida has a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Education and giving back to the community around her. She volunteered a lot of her time at a local elementary school while she resided in Charlottesville, VA aiding students in mathematics. Racheida is a Lifetime Member (#815) of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) where she currently holds the position of National Secretary and has held various other leadership positions that has enabled her to expand her passion throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Her ultimate career goal is to teach at the university level.
