In 2025, Virginia Tech will implement storage caps on Microsoft 365 Online services, in response to major changes to Microsoft's licensing model for higher education institutions. 

The IT Transformation Program is a comprehensive effort to reshape and strengthen IT operations, career pathways, security, and services across Virginia Tech.

The Central Log Service provides University departments a location for storing, and tools for analysis of, server/desktop/device log information. (A VPN is required to access the site off campus).

Information about the 2023-34 changes to email, calendar services, and Google Workspace storage in response to major changes to their licensing model for higher education institutions. This project is complete as of Nov 1, 2024.

Network Infrastructure and Services (NI&S) is currently preparing users and service managers to migrate from the Avaya phone system to Zoom’s Phone and Call Center solutions, based on the familiar Zoom platform.

This standard describes how to manage information technology (IT) projects according to best practices promoted by nationally recognized project management organizations, such as, the Project Management Institute (PMI), Scrum.org, and Scrum Alliance appropriately tailored to the specific circumstances of the university.

Virginia law requires all state agencies, including Virginia Tech, to cease use of TikTok, WeChat, and other applications developed by ByteDance or Tencent for any official purposes, effective July 1, 2023.
