University Survey Tools
Using Qualtrics and other survey tools at Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech recently acquired Qualtrics as its primary survey tool for employees, graduate students, and students involved in research. Additional tools, including Microsoft Forms and Google Forms, are available for administrative surveys. QuestionPro is also still available; however, no new surveys should be created in this platform after April 30, 2026.
This website contains information about Qualtrics and guidance for those who may need to move surveys from QuestionPro to Qualtrics.
FAQs about Qualtrics access and the transition process can be found here. The support page contains links to Qualtrics resources and training opportunities.
Important dates regarding QuestionPro:
- April 30, 2026: End of new survey creation in QuestionPro. Existing surveys will continue to function normally.
- April 15, 2027: End of QuestionPro support. Those who have longitudinal and/or grant-funded research that will require exception to this cutoff in QuestionPro can file a request for extension here.

About the transition to Qualtrics
Re-introducing Qualtrics university-wide comes in response to feedback from our research community and other users. The Division of Information Technology, in cooperation with the University Libraries, Governance, Technology–enhanced Learning and Online Strategies, and Office of Research and Innovation are working together to support the implementation.
