General

When the student information system launches, you will see cards instead of links. Users can personalize their view by placing the ones used most often at the top, and hiding cards not commonly used. 

Students will go to my.vt.edu  to access their personal, academic, and financial information. Employees will also access their personal information at my.vt.edu.

A mobile app is planned for release after go‑live. In the meantime, users can access the mobile‑friendly site on a phone or tablet through their preferred browser. 

The project team is carefully evaluating possible launch dates, considering the full scope of university activities that depend on these platforms. When a date is chosen, it will be listed on this website and announced university-wide through VT News and other communication channels.  

Yes.

Alumni will need to go to my.vt.edu to access transcripts and any other information they previously accessed via HokieSPA.

Retirees will need to go to my.vt.edu to access their employee information.

Room reservations will move to the EMS reservation system.

Cloud systems reduce security risk by consolidating services into a single, centrally managed commercial environment. In addition, our vendor continuously monitors the system and immediately applies security patches and updates. 

Employees

Self-service interactions found on HokieTEAM and HokiePLUS will be available at my.vt.edu. 

Yes. Some departments will provide their own training on specific technical or business processes. Other training will be posted on it.vt.edu/ERP when it becomes available. For most users, the platform should be intuitive and easy to navigate, requiring little training. 

The project team plans for the go-live conversion to take, at most, five days. Data in the warehouse and data lake will be refreshed as soon as possible after the student information system is live.  

All services that rely on Banner will be unavailable during the go-live conversion, (the time when we switch all systems from HokieSPA to my.vt.edu). Business processes that rely on data from the data warehouse or data lake will also be affected. The project team plans for the go-live conversion to take, at most, five days.

Departments can prepare by having contingency plans for the time when Banner is offline and data from the data warehouse or data lake are unavailable. The conversion process is expected to take five days, with two of those days falling on a weekend.

Students

It will not change how students register or add/drop classes. But they will need to go to my.vt.edu to access registration and course information. 

HokieSPA will be unavailable during go-live conversion, (the time when we switch all systems from HokieSPA to my.vt.edu).  

Expect a clean and customizable user interface with cards that link to your academic, financial, and personal information.
