- Project Charter
- Added an example project charter template for use with higher risk and complexity and all major, projects.
- Project Scorecard
- Revised the project Scorecard decision support tool:
- bug fixes.
- save a copy of a completed scorecard using the browser built-in print function and print to PDF.
- Homepage
- Completely revised the homepage to a more conversational style, walking the user through a series of questions regarding the type of project they have in order to make recommendations about project management.

- Revised Policy 7210 - Information Technology Project Management (revision 1), to include Agile project management methodologies and new definitions. Revised policy approved by the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, Dr. Scott F. Midkiff and the Virginia Tech President’s office, September 2017.
- Project Scorecard
- Revised the project Scorecard decision support tool:
- to make it more user friendly.
- by creating some new categories of Complexity and Risk.
- with non-subjective, easier to understand, category selections.
- with the ability to adjust the suggested score for a category based on the decision authorities risk tolerance for that category.
- by vetting with the Information Technology Security Office (ITSO) that “Working with unencrypted, sensitive data, outside the secure system where the data came from, violates university policy and standards” and included a note to indicate that.
- with updated ranges for what constitutes a low, medium, or high risk and complexity project. Based on the “Project Total Score” the tool recommends the appropriate level of project management.
- Project Level Indicators
- Revised the text based on the selections available in the project scorecard categories.
- Project Management Process Guidelines
- Revised the guidelines table to include Agile processes.

- Revised the table to include Agile guidelines.
- Major IT Project Process
- Created a page to inform a project decision authority of certain requirements for projects designated as “major” IT projects as defined by the Management Agreement between the Commonwealth of Virginia and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University pursuant to the Restructured Higher Education Financial and Administrative Operations Act of 2005.

Any information technology project working with PII or FERPA data is automatically escalated to a higher risk project requiring more rigor and detail, as well as, greater approval and oversight.
