Virginia Tech’s IT Strategic Plan presents a framework for prioritization and alignment with the university’s strategic goals. Sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer in cooperation with the IT Governance Executive Committee, this plan aims to enable institutional priorities and enhance collaboration among IT groups.

With extensive stakeholder involvement, the plan has developed a universitywide technology roadmap that integrates outcomes to meet the continuing and emerging technology needs of the university. It outlines quick wins and sets short, medium, and long-term priorities to ensure continuous progress and adaptability.

Planning Overview

The plan covers a four-year window, with more detailed information included for the first 18 – 24 months on the Implementation Framework page. The framework will be revisited and updated every 12 – 18 months to adjust for both accomplishments over the last period and new and emerging technologies that have arisen since the last update.
